Sistrum
The sistrum was a sacred musical instrument in Ancient Egypt. It was used during dances and religious ceremonies. This instrument was also used for the worshipping of the goddess Hathor because the U-shaped handle and frame resembled the face and horns of Hathor. The sistrum is usually made with clay, wood or metal. Early examples of the sistrum date back to 2000 - 1900 BCE and were found in Crete.
